From I95, exit onto Smithfield Ave and go North on Route 122. Follow for approximately 2.5 miles until you get to a set of flashing yellow lights. Turn left onto Woodland St. and follow up the hill. Directly across from the Saylesville Elementary School you will see a stone monument marking the driveway to Wesley. Come on up!
Wesley Church's ministry began in Lincoln in the1960's. Churches from Pawtucket, RI discerned God's guidance as they joinedtogetherand moved to our present location in Lincoln. Then, in the 1970's, a church from Cumberland also joined. During this time the ministry of Wesley Church has sought to serve persons living in both Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts.
Today, Wesley is a growing church with a strong Sunday School, excellent music program, active men's and women's fellowshipgroupsand contemporary Worship Service. Wesley also has numerous familyorientedprograms. The members of Wesley are always open to new persons and families making this their church home.
Through our shared ministry we strive to reachout to the communityby being the church which house the Lincoln chapterof AARP, girlscout and brownie troops, the Highland Nursery School, anda numberof "Community-based Organization's" meetings. Frequentlythesegroups have members of our church serving in leadership!
As we move into the 21st century we at Wesleyfeel it is importantthat Christians maintain a strong faith which seeksto live withthe realities of our changing world. This means first we arededicatedto a new type of "Ecumenical Spirit: which buildsbridges with variousChristian traditions as well as the Jewishcommunity, the growing Islamiccommunity, and the numerous religionswhich are emerging in our community.
This also means that messages of personal discipline and responsibility are held up by both our personal lives and teaching. Finally, this means we strive to be open and tolerant to those who aredifferentthan us while recognizing that it is God who has created the wonderful diversity which we find in our world.
We hope that those who are looking for a church home will visit our church. We also pray that through our ministry manywillfind the church home they are seeking.
